Prominent city lawyer Harrison Kinyanjui has recounted a disturbing encounter in which he was robbed by suspected goons in broad daylight, on the same day President William Ruto was addressing the Nairobi County Assembly.
Speaking during an interview on KTN, Kinyanjui said he was caught off guard by the brazenness of the attackers, who appeared to operate without fear despite a heavy security presence in the area.
“I was not aware that goons were all over on the same day the President was addressing the County Assembly. They were smoking cannabis in broad daylight, even as police and the presidential escort were nearby,” he said.
According to the lawyer, the situation escalated quickly when the group targeted him and forcibly snatched his mobile phones.
He expressed shock at how easily the suspects carried out the robbery, raising concerns about possible security lapses in the city.
“In no time, they grabbed my phones. The goons were bold and showed no fear of the authorities,” he added.
Kinyanjui further claimed that despite reporting the incident at Central Police Station, he has yet to receive assistance.
He also said he found other victims reporting similar attacks by the same group, including women who had lost personal belongings and one individual who had been stabbed.
“After reporting the incident, I have not been assisted. I found many other victims at the station. It does not make sense,” he said.
