In May this year, Kenyans woke to the news of the death of Rachael Wandeto, the famous Kikuyu woman who had tattooed the face of President William Ruto on her chest.
Wandeto, who was living in Mwiki, succumbed to serious burns she had suffered after unknown men poured petrol on her and attempted to burn her alive. She was rushed to a hospital in Kasarani and later transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital, where she eventually died.

Leaders including President William Ruto, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja condemned the incident and blamed the opposition led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for being behind Wandeto’s death.
Murkomen and Kanja visited Wandeto at KNH and spoke against political intolerance, which they said was being tolerated by Gachagua and his opposition allies. President Ruto also donated Sh 1.6 million to Wandeto’s family to prepare for her burial, which was held in Kirinyaga.
But as the saying goes, a lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is still putting on its shoes. The truth has finally emerged on how the government planned the death of Rachael Wandeto.
Speaking on Sunday, Gachagua claimed Wandeto was killed by the very government she was popularising. He said her death was planned by a female nominated United Democratic Alliance(UDA) senator from Nairobi County, and the plan was financed by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen.
The Democracy for Citizens party leader further revealed that Wandeto was killed because she was willing to reveal the truth and expose the perpetrators of the heinous act.
