Kevin Kimwatu, the husband of the late Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) Head of Data Protection Unit, Rosemary Chemutai, has paid an emotional tribute to his late wife during a memorial service held on Monday, September 7.

Speaking at the ceremony, Kevin said he has gone through an extremely difficult period following the death of his wife, describing the past two weeks as challenging.

He, however, acknowledged the few people who have stood by him during the difficult period, including his sisters, son Charles, his family and members of the CMA community.

“It has been a challenging two weeks, and sometimes no one prepares you for some things in life. But with the support I have gotten, I can see everyone has abandoned me, but my CMA people are here, my whole family, and my son Charles and my sisters,” Kevin said.

Kevin also reflected on his relationship with Rosemary, recalling the years they spent together and the life they built as a family.

“Perhaps the silence began three months ago when we slowly drifted apart and the distance between us became something neither you nor I seemed to know how to bridge, but nothing could ever prepare me for the final silence your departure has left behind us,” he said.

In his moving tribute, Kevin revealed that he first met Rosemary when she was 19 years old and that they subsequently began building their life together.

He described his late wife as a determined and hardworking woman, reflecting on the journey they shared and the memories they created together.

Rosemary’s death has left family, friends and colleagues mourning the loss of a woman who served at KCB as the Head of the Data Protection Unit.

She was found dead at her residence in Ngong after taking her own life.
