Four suspects, including two police officers, have been arraigned in connection with the murder of advocate Mathew Kyalo Mbobu.
The suspects are police officers Julius Cheruiyot and Kennedy Kipkemei, alongside Nicholas Naula Lemiso and Noah Kipkurui Langat.
According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), the court ordered that the four be detained at Gigiri, Parklands, Kibra and Muthangari police stations for 15 days to allow investigators to complete their investigations.
The prosecution told the court that the suspects are believed to have been involved in the shooting of Mbobu as he drove his Toyota Land Cruiser.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Cheruiyot, who was serving at Pangani Police Station, had been issued with a Ceska pistol allegedly used in the shooting.
A ballistic examination reportedly linked the firearm to cartridge cases and a bullet recovered from the scene.
An autopsy conducted on September 12, 2025, by Chief Government Pathologist Dr Johansen Odour established that Mbobu died from multiple bullet injuries.
Eight bullet wounds were documented on his upper body and neck.
The prosecution team is led by Ishmael Kiragu, Hillary Isiaho and Iphrah Aftin.
