President William Ruto’s powerful aide, Faruk Kibet, has stirred fresh controversy after reportedly claiming that Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro received government support to launch his People’s Party of Kenya (PPK).
Nyoro launched the party and declared his intention to join the United Opposition led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, with the aim of removing President Ruto from power in the 2027 General Election.
However, soon after the launch, Gachagua and his allies accused Nyoro of being a mole allegedly sent by Ruto to infiltrate the opposition, cause divisions and weaken its efforts to challenge the President.
The Kiharu legislator has repeatedly defended himself against the accusations, insisting that he is genuinely opposed to the government. He has also pushed back against the description of his party as a “small wheelbarrow”.
As the debate over Nyoro’s political loyalties continues within opposition circles, Kibet has now reportedly weighed in, claiming that the state provided money for the launch of PPK. His alleged remarks have added fresh fuel to questions about whether Nyoro is truly committed to the opposition or is working in the government’s interests.
Kibet made the remarks while speaking in Western Kenya on Friday, where he also urged Nyoro to exercise caution in the debate surrounding the proposed sale of shares in Kenya Pipeline Company.
Nyoro has questioned the proposed share sale and accused Ruto of playing a role in the transaction involving Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote.
Kibet’s reported remarks are likely to intensify the political dispute surrounding Nyoro, particularly as opposition leaders seek to build a united front against Ruto ahead of the 2027 elections.
