Royal Media Services (RMS) Editorial Director Linus Kaikai has paid an emotional tribute to veteran journalist Yvonne Okwara as she officially signs off from the media house.
Speaking during her departure, Kaikai admitted that Okwara’s exit was particularly difficult, describing it as the toughest departure he had dealt with during his leadership of the newsroom.
“The next departure is always tougher than the last one. This is the toughest I have had to deal with in my leadership of the newsroom,” Kaikai said.
He praised Okwara’s contribution to the media industry, noting that her exit would leave a significant gap in the newsroom and the wider journalism fraternity.
“The industry will miss you; this is an industry dent, and we want to wish you the very best in your next endeavours,” he added.
Kaikai’s remarks underscored the impact Okwara has had during her time at RMS, where she established herself as one of Kenya’s prominent broadcast journalists.
Her departure marks a significant moment for the media organisation, with colleagues and viewers reflecting on her contribution to journalism and her years on television.
