Police have launched investigations into the disappearance of a 10-year-old boy who went missing while under the care of a househelp in Witeithie, Thika East.
The missing boy, Kedrick Kariuki, is a pupil at Emma Rest Academy and lives with his family in Gwaka Phase 2, near Kangoki.
According to a report filed at Thika Police Station, Kedrick went missing on the morning of Sunday, July 5, 2026, while under the care of the family’s househelp, who has been identified as Jane Nyandoi, a Ugandan national.
The househelp, who had reportedly been working for the family for some time, is suspected to have left with the boy to an unknown destination.
The two have not returned home since then, and efforts to reach her by phone have been unsuccessful, with her mobile phone reportedly switched off.
Preliminary reports indicate that the last known signal from her phone was detected on Monday afternoon near the Kenya-Uganda border, prompting fears that she may have crossed or was attempting to cross the border with the child.
Police are pursuing leads to establish the whereabouts of both the boy and the househelp as investigations continue.
Anyone with information that could help trace Kedrick Kariuki or the suspect is urged to report to the nearest police station or contact the investigating officers at Thika Police Station immediately.
