In a move to combat the rise of organised criminal gangs in Kisumu, a team of detectives drawn from the DCI headquarters, alongside officers from Kisumu, have apprehended two suspects in a meticulously coordinated operation.

The first suspect, Gabriel Oyuga Nyaoke, aka Omar, was intercepted at Guba Centre while he was heading towards Kisumu Town.

Upon his arrest, he was found in possession of a small black bag containing a tear gas canister and twenty rolls of bhang, revealing his involvement in illicit activities.

Another suspect, Collins Omondi, a resident of Riat area, was taken into custody after a swift search of his vehicle uncovered several identification cards, a tear gas canister, a knife, holsters, and five rounds of 7.62×39 mm special ammunition.

Both suspects are currently in custody, undergoing processing as they await arraignment.

This operation underscores the DCI’s commitment to dismantling criminal gangs in Kisumu and other parts of the country, through intelligence-led operations, sending a clear message that those engaging in criminal activities will be held accountable.
