A senior doctor has revealed that President William Ruto personally reached out to inquire about the health of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua during his hospital stay in October 2024.
In a statement, Dr. Gikonyo disclosed that he directly supervised and monitored Gachagua throughout his admission at Karen Hospital from October 17 to October 20, 2024.
According to the doctor, the former Deputy President was under his care when the Head of State made a phone call seeking an update on his condition.
“I personally supervised and monitored the first petitioner during his admission. On October 17, 2024, while he was under my care, I received a telephone call from the President, who inquired about his condition,” Dr. Gikonyo stated.
He confirmed to the President that Gachagua had indeed been admitted to Karen Hospital in Nairobi and was receiving treatment at the facility.
Gachagua experienced sharp, severe chest pain and shortness of breath, necessitating immediate hospitalization.
He was reportedly told that arriving 20 minutes later could have led to a different outcome.
The hospitalization occurred mid-way through his Senate impeachment trial, preventing him from appearing for cross-examination.
