Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a former Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer linked to suspected criminal activities in Nairobi’s Eastlands area and surrounding estates.
In a statement, the DCI said officers attached to the Operations Support Unit (OSU) conducted the operation after receiving information from members of the public regarding the suspect’s alleged activities.
The suspect, identified as Rodgers Omondi Odhiambo, a former KDF special forces officer, was reportedly arrested at a hideout located within the Kayole dumpsite area.
After his arrest, detectives escorted him to his residence, where a search operation was carried out.
During the search, officers recovered one round of 9mm ammunition and several items suspected to be government stores.
The recovered items included three military shirts, a military smoke jacket, a military trouser, a military short, two military working dresses, a green military bag, and a military jackknife.
According to the DCI, the military gear is believed to be official government property whose possession by unauthorized persons is illegal.
Odhiambo was later arraigned before the Milimani Law Courts, where he was charged with possession of ammunition and government stores.
He denied the charges and pleaded not guilty.
The court released him on a bond of Sh1 million or an alternative cash bail of Sh500,000.
The case will be mentioned on June 2, 2026, as investigations continue.
