A family in Bangladesh has laid to rest their relative, Sheikh Mahfuzur Rahman, who died in Kenya under mysterious circumstances just weeks after arriving in the country.
Rahman’s body was reportedly discovered at Coast General Hospital in Mombasa nearly 20 days after he had been reported missing, leaving his family searching for answers over the circumstances surrounding his death.
According to reports, a post-mortem examination concluded that Rahman died due to lack of oxygen.
However, his family has rejected the findings, alleging that the true cause of death may have been concealed.
Speaking after the burial, Rahman’s brother, Mahbubur Rahman, claimed the deceased’s body had visible injuries that suggested he may have been assaulted before his death.
“We believe my brother was beaten. But the post-mortem results described it as a natural death. We think the actual cause of death was concealed,” he said.
The family also questioned why the post-mortem examination reportedly took more than four hours, saying the process raised further suspicions.
In addition, relatives alleged that several valuables belonging to Rahman went missing after his death.
According to his brother, the deceased had travelled to Kenya to finalize a car business deal and was carrying a significant amount of money at the time.
The family further stated that Rahman regularly wore jewellery, including gold items, none of which were recovered.
