Fresh details have emerged ahead of the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election after Digital Strategist Dennis Itumbi alleged that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his allies recently conducted an emergency fundraising drive to rescue the campaign of the DCP Party candidate.
In a post shared on social media, Itumbi claimed that an emergency meeting was convened two days ago following internal polling that reportedly showed a surge in support for the UDA candidate, Muchina, raising concerns within Gachagua’s camp.
According to Itumbi, the internal survey indicated that the UDA candidate had gained significant momentum, prompting what he described as urgent intervention measures to boost the campaign of the candidate backed by the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP).
Itumbi further alleged that KSh150 million was raised during the fundraiser to finance campaign activities in Ol Kalou and counter the growing influence of UDA on the ground.
Itumbi also claimed that former President Uhuru Kenyatta has a candidate in the race and, as a result, could not support the DCP-backed contender financially.
Beyond campaign financing, Itumbi alleged that several strategic decisions were reached during the meeting.
Among them was a plan to intensify what he termed as “intentional inflammatory remarks” aimed at attracting police summons or arrests, which he claimed would then be used to generate public sympathy for the DCP party candidate.
