President William Ruto is pulling every string possible to secure his re-election in the 2027 presidential election.
Fully aware that the odds are stacked against him, the head of state has been deploying calculated tactics to weaken the united opposition — led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka — well before the high-stakes poll arrives.
As things stand, the united opposition is already cracking at the seams, split into three distinct camps. The first is led by People’s Liberation Party leader Martha Karua, the second by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, and the third is the Gachagua-Kalonzo tag team.
With 2027 closing in fast, the state — through operatives from the National Intelligence Service — is said to be working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the opposition never truly unites. And for good reason: a united opposition could spell the end of Ruto’s presidency.
One key strategy allegedly in play involves flooding social media platforms — Facebook, X, and TikTok — with manufactured support for Sifuna and his faction. Unlike Gachagua’s rallies, which have repeatedly faced police disruption, Sifuna’s events are reportedly being left untouched. That contrast alone is telling.
The endgame? Make Sifuna more popular than Gachagua — and that’s where the real political chess match begins.
Gachagua has proven to be a genuine thorn in the government’s side, and the state reportedly wants to cut him down to size and push him into political oblivion before the next election cycle. The method is both subtle and ruthless.
The alleged plan involves the government engineering viral hashtags and funding a wave of fake outrage—warning Sifuna against associating with Gachagua and his allies. Disguised as loyal Sifuna supporters, state operatives are said to be planning to hire thousands of influencers and even musicians to pressure Sifuna into keeping his distance from Gachagua, under the threat of losing his “grassroots support.”
Once that pressure lands, the opposition fractures—splits into two or three rival camps—and just like that, Ruto walks through the middle and wins in 2027 convincingly.
Whether this is all political speculation or a coordinated state operation quietly unfolding, one thing is clear: the game is already being played. The only question is whether the opposition is awake enough to see it.
