Prominent lawyer Ndegwa Njiiru has claimed that there is an alleged plan to evict Kikuyu traders from Embu County, remarks that have sparked debate on social media.

In a post published on X, Njiiru alleged that Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire and Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku were behind the purported scheme.

“Can you imagine the Governor for Embu County Cecily Mbarire and the thick, big headed man CS Ruku are hatching a scheme to evict all Kikuyu businessmen and women from Embu County….Who has bewitched us?” Njiiru wrote.

His remarks come in the wake of the closely watched Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election, which has generated intense political exchanges among leaders allied to the Kenya Kwanza administration and the opposition.
