ODM leader Oburu Odinga has weighed in on the outcome of the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election, urging former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to tone down his political rhetoric now that the contest is over.
Speaking during a public function on Friday, Oburu said there was no need for continued political confrontations following the conclusion of the by-election.
He remarked that despite Gachagua’s preferred candidate emerging victorious, the former Deputy President still appeared agitated.
“When you see Gachagua, he’s always in a fighting mood. He has won an election, but appears he’s still annoyed. The election is over, so Gachagua, keep your peace,” Oburu said.
Oburu called for calm and urged political leaders to move forward now that the by-election has been concluded.
His remarks come amid heightened political exchanges following the closely watched Ol Kalou by-election, which has sparked sharp reactions from both Government and opposition leaders.
In the lead-up to the by-election, Gachagua repeatedly criticized the Government, alleging voter intimidation and security excesses during the exercise.
