Renowned political analyst Prof. Mutahi Ngunyi has predicted a resurgence of post-election violence in Kenya during the 2027 presidential election, warning that it will negatively affect members of the Kikuyu community.
In a social media post on Monday, Mutahi—who is known to support the candidate with the deepest pockets — opined that just like the 2007 presidential election, where all Kenyans were against the Kikuyu tribe, the same will happen in 2027, and the community will be targeted similarly.
During the 2007 presidential election, the Kikuyu community, which was supporting the late former President Mwai Kibaki, was accused of rigging the election, and the consequences were dire.
All other tribes in Kenya ganged up together, resulting in a fierce post-election bloodbath that claimed over 1,000 lives, displaced more than half a million people, and saw properties worth billions of shillings destroyed.
In what appears to be an ominous warning to the Kikuyu community, Mutahi—who has now reportedly been hired by state operatives—stated that the community might find themselves in the same situation as in 2007, when they were hunted like antelopes by members of other tribes.
Mutahi further reminded them that the Kikuyu community is spread across all parts of the country and that if anything were to happen, they would have no advantage over other Kenyans.
Mutahi made these predictions amid growing opposition from most members of the Kikuyu community to President William Ruto’s re-election bid in 2027.
This is the message Mutahi Ngunyi wrote on his X platform.
