Detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU), working together with officers from the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (TOCU), have arrested a 29-year-old Nigerian national suspected of playing a major role in a narcotics trafficking network operating within Nairobi.
The suspect, identified as Christian Ikechukwu Uzochukwu, was apprehended following intelligence-led investigations that linked him to the distribution of illegal drugs within the city.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the suspect had been under surveillance for some time before officers moved in to execute the operation.
Police officers raided his residence in the Kabarnet area along Ngong Road, where they conducted a thorough search of the premises.
During the operation, detectives recovered 33 sachets of cannabis sativa that had reportedly been neatly packaged and prepared for distribution to customers within the city.
Authorities also seized two passports bearing the suspect’s name, alongside several other items believed to be relevant to the ongoing investigations.
Preliminary investigations further revealed that the suspect is allegedly in the country illegally.
Following his arrest, Uzochukwu was escorted to Muthaiga Police Station, where he is being processed ahead of his arraignment in court.
The recovered narcotics have since been detained as exhibits as detectives continue investigating possible links to a wider drug trafficking syndicate operating in Nairobi and beyond.
