Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has revealed that the party is planning for a KSh 2 billion budget to facilitate its nominations and election preparedness activities ahead of the next General Election.
Speaking during a press briefing, Gachagua said the party had already assessed the projected cost of the nomination process, noting that the exercise would require significant financial resources to run effectively across the country.
“I have looked at the nominations budget. The whole election process is about KSh 2 billion. From the nomination fees, we’ll be able to raise KSh 1 billion, and the party will look for another one billion, that’s why I am travelling to the UK and later the US,” Gachagua said.
According to the former Deputy President, the party expects to raise half of the required amount through nomination fees paid by aspirants seeking various elective seats under the DCP ticket.
He added that the remaining KSh 1 billion would be sourced through fundraising efforts and engagements with supporters both locally and abroad.
Gachagua disclosed that part of his upcoming trips to the United Kingdom and the United States is aimed at mobilising resources to support the party’s activities and strengthen its preparations ahead of the elections.
DCP has in recent months positioned itself as a key political force seeking to consolidate support across several regions, with Gachagua maintaining an active political schedule through public rallies, consultative meetings, and media engagements.
