The identity of the woman who was trailed and brutally stabbed to death along Kirichwa Road in Kilimani has been revealed as Ann Keya.
The tragic incident occurred in the evening as Ann and her friends walked from their workplace towards the Argwings Kodhek Road direction.
Reports indicate that Ann had left work unaware that her former boyfriend had allegedly been tracking her movements.
According to her family, the two had been in a troubled relationship for over two years, marked by repeated disagreements. Ann is said to have later moved out of the suspect’s house in Kawangware and relocated to stay with her aunt.
Colleagues revealed that she had only resumed work on May 14th after being away for several weeks. The suspect was also reportedly present at the workplace that day.
Police said he allegedly arrived at work armed with a knife. Management is said to have attempted to mediate between the two during a meeting earlier that day, but the discussions reportedly broke down and the suspect was removed after tensions escalated.
After leaving work in the evening, Ann walked with colleagues unaware she was being followed. She was then allegedly attacked and stabbed multiple times before her throat was slit.
Witnesses said she attempted to run to a nearby clinic for help but collapsed outside the facility and succumbed to her injuries.
Members of the public managed to restrain the suspect as he attempted to flee before police officers arrived and took him into custody.
Kilimani police boss Patricia Yegon confirmed that the suspect did not sustain injuries during the incident.
“He was taken to hospital, examined and found fit before being returned to the police cells,” she said, adding that the blood stains on him belonged to the deceased.
Police believe the incident was linked to a toxic relationship, and the suspect is expected to face murder charges as investigations continue.
