Acting on a tip-off from a member of the public, police officers from Gakawa Police Station raided a shop at Ichuga Trading Centre in Kieni East Sub-County that was suspected to be involved in the sale of cannabis sativa.

During the operation, officers conducted a search inside the shop and recovered ninety-two (92) rolls of cannabis sativa concealed inside a chocolate packet hidden under the counter.

The shop owner, together with another person found at the premises, was immediately arrested.

Upon interrogation, the shop owner led detectives to his rented residential house, where another suspect was allegedly found preparing rolls of cannabis sativa.

A further search at the house led to the recovery of an additional six hundred and ninety-two (692) rolls of cannabis sativa, bringing the total number of recovered rolls to seven hundred and eighty-four (784).

Police also recovered unprocessed cannabis sativa weighing approximately 21 kilograms, five mobile phones suspected to have been used in sale transactions, and assorted rolling apparatus believed to have been used in packaging the narcotics.

The suspects remain in police custody pending arraignment in court.
