The newly launched Nyahururu to Alkalou train has already caused an accident, just days after it was launched.

The train was last active in 1980. But due to the upcoming by-election scheduled for next month, President William Ruto’s government launched the train to ease the transportation of farm commodities from Alkalou to other parts of Kenya.

Alkalou and Nyahururu are known for farming and producing agricultural commodities. The government wants the train to be active to open up marketing opportunities for farmers and to boost the growth of industries in Alkalou.

But barely a week after its launch, the train caused a grisly accident that almost claimed the lives of innocent citizens.

On Tuesday morning, the train caused a near-death incident after it crashed into a small car.

Here are photos of the accident that shocked Alkalou residents to the core.
