A motorist has issued a warning to the public after narrowly escaping an attempted robbery on the Kasarani–Githurai road in the early hours of the morning.
According to the victim, the incident occurred at around 2 a.m. as he was driving home.
He was on the fast lane when his vehicle hit a large stone that appeared to have been deliberately placed on the road.
Fortunately, the tyre did not deflate immediately, allowing him to drive a short distance and park safely.
When he stepped out to assess the damage, he noticed several men approaching.
Sensing danger, he quickly got back into the car, locked the doors, and sped off despite having a flat tyre.
One of the men reportedly tried to open the rear door, but it was already secured.
A short distance ahead, he spotted another vehicle parked on the roadside but did not think much of it at the time.
It was only this morning that he learnt the other motorist had not been as fortunate.
The second driver hit the same road traps, causing his tyres to deflate and his vehicle’s airbags to deploy.
The impact shattered his windscreen and damaged the sump guard, leading to an oil leak.
When he stepped out to inspect the wreckage, thugs attacked him, robbed him of all his belongings, and left him with multiple bruises.
With the holiday season approaching—a period historically associated with increased crime—motorists are urged to remain vigilant, avoid late-night travel where possible, and exercise extreme caution along known hotspots.
