Former UDA Secretary-General Cleophas Malala has accused Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo of allegedly plotting to undermine Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and force him out of office.
Speaking at the DCP party headquarters while receiving defectors from various political parties into the Gachagua-affiliated party, Malala claimed that Murkomen and PS Omollo were organising goons to cause chaos and create a security crisis that would eventually trigger calls for Kanja’s resignation.
Malala alleged that Kanja was being sabotaged by senior government officials in the security docket and warned him to be cautious about the developments surrounding his position.
“You are being used badly. CS Murkomen and PS Omollo have planned to bring goons so that citizens can demonstrate and demand that Kanja resigns,” Malala alleged.
The former UDA official further claimed that the alleged plan was intended to create public pressure against Kanja and pave the way for his replacement.
He alleged that President William Ruto and his allies wanted Kanja replaced by his deputy, Eliud Lang’at, ahead of the 2027 General Election.
“This is a plan to remove Kanja and replace him with Lang’at,” Malala claimed.
Malala also criticised what he described as an unacceptable concentration of senior government positions among individuals from the same community.
“We will not accept a situation where the CS, IG and President are from the same tribe,” he said.
