A 23-year-old man was shot dead along Kikuyu Road after he and another man snatched a mobile phone from an armed man in Kawangware, Nairobi.
According to a police report, the incident happened on Thursday evening, with the body of Steven Muriuki found lying face down on the road near the Equity Bank area.
Muriuki and an unidentified accomplice reportedly fled on a motorcycle after allegedly snatching the mobile phone from the man in Kawangware.
The armed man is said to have pursued them on another motorcycle and opened fire after catching up with them near Equity Bank.
Muriuki reportedly fell from the moving motorcycle after being shot, while the person riding the motorcycle escaped from the scene.
The shooter recovered his mobile phone before fleeing from the scene on his motorcycle.
Detectives from DCI Dagoretti visited and processed the scene, establishing that Muriuki had one visible gunshot wound.
His body was moved to the City Mortuary pending an autopsy examination.
Investigators are working to recover the cartridge used in the shooting and are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing and identify the person who fired the shot.
The motorcycle used by the shooter is yet to be identified by police.
