A police officer attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has been arrested after mysteriously losing his service pistol while watching a Premier League match at a club in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County.
According to an Occurrence Book (OB) report, Police Constable Duncan Ogeto, who had been temporarily deployed to DCI Trans Nzoia West to support investigations by a multi-agency team, lost his Jericho pistol loaded with 15 rounds of 9mm ammunition on Sunday at around 9pm.
The incident happened at Katakala Club in Kitale town, where the officer had reportedly gone to watch the Premier League match between Arsenal and Liverpool.
The report indicates that while opposite Bongo Hotel, Ogeto felt exhausted, sat down and fell asleep.
He regained consciousness at around 11pm after being awakened by two DCI officers, Sergeant Lubisa and Corporal Kimonge.
However, he was shocked to discover that his issued firearm and two mobile phones, an Oppo and a Tecno, were missing.
