Police have launched a manhunt for a gang that broke into the home of a Chinese national at the upscale Unity Homes estate in Unity East, Tatu City, Kiambu County, and made away with millions in cash and valuables.
According to police reports, the incident occurred on April 17, 2026, between 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm.
The victim, a resident of the gated community, reported that unknown individuals gained access to her house in broad daylight and stole a vault safe containing high-value items.
Among the stolen property was cash amounting to Sh4 million, a luxury watch also valued at approximately Sh4 million, jewellery worth Sh287,000, and a Prada bag estimated at Sh76,000.
Important personal documents, including a certificate of permanent residency and a Kenyan foreigner identification card, were also taken.
Detectives have since launched investigations and are expected to review security systems within the estate as part of efforts to identify the suspects.
Authorities suspect the perpetrators may have had prior knowledge of the presence of cash and valuables in the house.
The incident has raised fresh concerns about security within high-end residential estates in Kiambu County, particularly following a series of daytime break-ins.
No arrests have been made so far as investigations continue.
