Photos of a 45-year-old woman identified as Doris Murei Nandi have emerged following her death after she was reportedly shot seven times by a General Service Unit (GSU) officer within a camp in Eldoret.
The officer, identified as Nathan Kirwa, was reportedly involved in an alleged extra-marital affair with the married woman.
According to reports, the situation turned tragic after Kirwa allegedly found Doris drinking with another man at a bar within the camp.
He shot her several times before fleeing the scene.
The officer was later arrested, and the firearm believed to have been used in the incident was recovered.
He was also found with an injury on his left forefinger, which investigators suspect may have been sustained during the incident.
Following his arrest, the officer was taken to Life Care Hospital, where he received treatment and was discharged in fair condition.
He was subsequently escorted to Naiberi Police Station, where he remained in custody as investigations into the shooting and death continued.
Meanwhile, Doris’s colleague at Neighbors in Action Kenya (NIAK) has taken to social media to mourn her.
In an emotional post, the colleague described Doris as a passionate community worker who dedicated her time and energy to serving others.
“It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we mourn the heartbreaking loss of our colleague, friend, and fellow community member, Doris Murei Nandi.
“Doris was more than just a workmate. She was a vocal and passionate person who gave her time, energy, and voice to the community.
“Her presence, courage, and dedication touched many lives, and her absence leaves a painful emptiness that words cannot fully express.
“It is difficult to accept that someone we worked with, laughed with, and shared moments with is no longer with us.
“Her life was taken far too soon, leaving behind grief, unanswered questions, and a community mourning one of its own.
“At Neighbors in Action Kenya (NIAK), we extend our deepest condolences to Doris’s family, loved ones, colleagues, friends, and everyone who knew and worked alongside her.
“May we remember Doris for the life she lived, the people she touched, and the voice she gave to others.
“Rest peacefully, Doris. Your voice may be silenced, but your impact will never be forgotten.
“May justice prevail, and may her family and loved ones find strength during this devastating time,” he wrote.
