A suspect linked to a series of thefts at ACK Church Kamwangi has been arrested after a coordinated operation that combined CCTV evidence, an attempted break-in arrest, and a recovery trail that led to Githurai.
According to preliminary reports, church leaders had been grappling with repeated incidents of theft that raised concern among congregants and disrupted normal operations at the church.
The turning point in the investigation came after CCTV footage captured the suspect in the act during one of the earlier break-ins.
The same suspect reportedly returned to the church premises in what is believed to have been another attempted burglary.
However, this time, church members and security responders were able to intercept him before he could escape.
Upon arrest, he was found in possession of tools believed to have been used in the previous incidents.
What followed was a key development in the case.
During questioning, the suspect is said to have led police officers and church members to Githurai, where he had been selling stolen items linked to the church thefts.
Some of the suspected stolen property was reportedly recovered during the operation.
Authorities have since confirmed that the suspect is being held at Kamwangi Police Station as investigations continue.
Police are expected to conduct further verification of the recovered items and establish whether additional accomplices may have been involved.
Residents and church members have welcomed the arrest, terming it a relief after weeks of insecurity and uncertainty.
