A traffic police officer who was stationed at the busy Makadara junction has died after she was knocked down by an Isuzu lorry while on duty.
Corporal Joyce Muthoni Mwicigi succumbed to her injuries at Nairobi West Hospital after the tragic incident.
She tried to flag down the lorry but the driver allegedly defied her stop order and drove on, knocking her down before fleeing the scene.
The lorry also reportedly rammed into three other vehicles during the incident, leaving a trail of destruction at the busy junction.
The tragic incident has left Kenyans mourning the dedicated officer, with many remembering her for her service at the busy Makadara junction.
Her death has also renewed concerns about the safety of traffic officers who work in the middle of busy roads while enforcing traffic rules.
