President Donald Trump has nominated veteran diplomat Henry Wooster to serve as the next United States Ambassador to Kenya.
The nomination was included in a list of appointments sent by the White House to the U.S. Senate on Tuesday for consideration and approval.
According to the official notice, Wooster, a resident of Virginia, is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service with the rank of Minister-Counselor.
If confirmed by the Senate, he will assume the position of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to the Republic of Kenya.
Wooster brings extensive diplomatic experience, having served in senior roles across various regions including the Middle East, Europe, Central Asia, and Africa.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from Amherst College and a master’s degree from Yale University.
In addition to his diplomatic career, he served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1985 to 2009, combining military service with foreign policy expertise.
One of his most notable roles was serving as U.S. Ambassador to Jordan from 2020 to 2023, where he represented American interests during a period of heightened regional security and diplomatic engagement.
If confirmed, Wooster will take over U.S. diplomatic leadership in Kenya at a time of continued cooperation on security, trade, and regional stability between the two nations.
