A dramatic love triangle in Kisii turned into a full-blown action movie last week when a vocal Member of Parliament was caught on CCTV delivering a beating worthy of a low-budget Nollywood film.
Omariba Moriasi was minding his own business, peacefully enjoying his breakfast on Thursday, when Kitutu South MP Antony Kibagendi stormed into the restaurant like a man coming to repossess a loan he never issued.
The MP, dressed in jungle-green trousers, a black jacket, and a mask, entered at 8:49am, looking like he was on a military mission. The footage shows him pointing at Moriasi—who was in a white T-shirt and red cap—before the drama escalates.
Within seconds, Kibagendi transformed into a one-man wrestling tag team, kicking Moriasi in the chest and grabbing him by the neck. Staff and customers rushed in to separate them, but the MP continued throwing punches like he was trying to qualify for the heavyweight category.
At one point, the lawmaker even slapped an innocent customer who tried to intervene—proof that in Kisii, love triangles can have collateral damage.
Speaking to a local TV station, Moriasi revealed that all the chaos erupted because the MP believed he had “snatched” his girlfriend.
“He came shouting that I must respect him and accused me of having an affair with his girlfriend. Before I could even defend myself, he started beating me,” Moriasi said, probably still wondering how he ended up starring in a fight scene without auditioning.
Moriasi’s lawyer, Benard Atancha, expressed shock that the MP has not been arrested despite a complaint being filed immediately at Kisii Police Station.
“We have followed all the procedures, yet the police have not arrested the man who assaulted my client with unknown backup dancers at Java in Kisii Town,” Atancha said.
