CCTV footage has emerged capturing the moment prominent city lawyer Harrison Kinyanjui was robbed in broad daylight by suspected goons outside City Hall in the Nairobi Central Business District.
The incident is reported to have occurred on the same day President William Ruto was addressing Members of the County Assembly, an event that had attracted heightened security presence in the area.
In the footage, a group of individuals is seen loitering nearby before swiftly surrounding Kinyanjui.
Within seconds, they snatch his phone and disperse, executing the act with alarming speed and coordination.
Kinyanjui had earlier narrated the ordeal, expressing shock at the boldness of the attackers who appeared unbothered by the presence of police officers and the presidential escort within the vicinity.
“They were smoking cannabis in broad daylight, even as police and the presidential escort were nearby. In no time, they snatched my phone. The goons were bold and showed no fear of the authorities,” he said.
He further claimed that he has not received any assistance despite reporting the matter to the police, adding that he encountered other victims who had reported similar incidents at the Central Police Station.
