A police officer attached to Meru Police Station has died suddenly after returning home appearing disturbed and subsequently becoming unresponsive.
According to an incident report filed at Meru Police Station, Constable Abdi Tache, aged 38, arrived at his girlfriend Mildred Kibet’s residence at around 8pm on Saturday, September 5, 2026.
Kibet, 23, told police that her boyfriend appeared disturbed when he arrived home and requested for food.
However, before taking the food, the officer reportedly started vomiting before becoming unresponsive while resting on the bed.
The incident was reported to police, prompting officers from Meru Police Station, DCI Imenti North and Scene of Crime personnel to visit the residence and commence preliminary investigations.
The officer was subsequently rushed to Doctors Plaza Hospital in Meru, where medical personnel examined him and pronounced him dead on arrival.
His body was later transferred to Meru Funeral Home, where it was preserved pending a post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death.
The case has been classified as Pending Further Investigation (P.U.I.), with detectives from DCI Imenti North handling investigations into the circumstances surrounding the officer’s sudden death.
Authorities are expected to rely on the post-mortem findings and other investigations to establish what led to the officer’s death.
