Tragedy has struck a Kenyan family after a man who was set to fly to London today drowned in a swimming pool just a day before his scheduled journey.
Pato Palmer had seemingly done everything right.
He had worked at Java in Nanyuki before applying to join the Royal Navy, and his visa had finally come through.
His ticket was booked, and with his dream of starting a new life abroad finally within reach, Palmer reportedly told his friends, “My star has finally shone.”
On Sunday, he went for what was supposed to be one last workout before boarding his flight today.
However, tragedy struck when Palmer drowned in a swimming pool and died, turning what was supposed to be an exciting journey into a heartbreaking loss.
His journey to London will now never happen, leaving behind his wife, child, friends and colleagues to mourn a man whose long-awaited new chapter was just hours away.
For his loved ones, the tragedy is made even more painful by the fact that tomorrow was supposed to mark the beginning of a new life, but instead became a tomorrow that never arrived.
