Alarm has been raised over rising insecurity in Dagoretti South after a resident alleged that a gang of more than 10 young men has been terrorising members of the public during the early morning hours.
In a post shared on social media, the resident claimed that at around 6:40 a.m. on Friday, the gang, armed with knives, attacked and robbed members of the public at the Dagoretti–Mutuini Railway Crossing near Mutuini Boys High School.
According to the witness, the suspects targeted people heading to work and school, making away with mobile phones, cash and other valuables.
The resident said the area has become increasingly unsafe despite being used daily by hundreds of workers, students and other members of the public.
“We are living in fear because anyone passing through that stretch can easily become a victim,” the resident wrote.
The concerned resident appealed to the National Police Service and the Dagoretti South security team to urgently increase patrols and restore security before the situation worsens.
In the meantime, members of the public using the route have been urged to remain vigilant and exercise extra caution, especially during the early morning hours.
