Former President Bill Clinton is scheduled to give a deposition on Friday to a congressional committee investigating his connections to Jeffrey Epstein, coming one day after Hillary Clinton testified and described the proceedings as “partisan political theater” and “an insult to the American people.”
In her remarks to the House, Hillary Clinton, a former U.S. secretary of state, insisted that she had never met Epstein. She acknowledged, however, that she had flown on Epstein’s private jet several times in the early 2000s but said she never visited his private island.
Bill Clinton, who admitted to an extramarital affair while in office and has faced sexual misconduct allegations from three women, also appears in a photo from recently released files showing him in a hot tub with Epstein and a woman whose identity has been redacted. Clinton has denied the allegations and has never been charged with any crime. He has also not been accused of any wrongdoing related to Epstein.
According to White House visitor records cited in news reports, Epstein visited the White House at least 17 times during the early years of Clinton’s presidency. Clinton has said he severed ties with Epstein around 2005, before the financier pleaded guilty to solicitation of a minor in Florida. Epstein died by suicide in 2019 while in federal custody.
The House committee subpoenaed the Clintons in August. They initially resisted but agreed to testify after Republicans threatened to hold them in contempt.
