Controversy continues to swirl around controversial preacher Prophet David Owuor following fresh allegations by a former insider, Nelson Amenya, who has shared troubling accounts involving illness and death among individuals close to the prophet — raising renewed questions about Owuor’s widely publicized healing claims.
According to Amenya, several people within Prophet Owuor’s inner circle, including senior church leaders and even the prophet’s Personal Assistant, have allegedly been diagnosed with cancer.
He claims that despite years of public declarations of divine healing, these individuals have not been cured.
“Ask yourself: how many bishops’ wives have cancer?” Amenya posed. “A senior bishop — who was also a doctor — recently died of cancer. Toward the end of his life, he claimed he had been healed by the mightiest prophet, a claim that was manipulated for public perception.”
Amenya recounted deeply personal and emotional experiences, including that of his former pastor’s wife, who he claims is currently battling cancer.
According to him, her condition has been deliberately concealed to avoid public scrutiny and uncomfortable questions within the church.
He also shared the story of his friend Kimtai’s wife, who succumbed to cancer several years ago. Amenya claims that during her illness, she was abandoned by the church after Prophet Owuor allegedly declared that her sickness was a judgment from God.
“I am one of the very few who went to see her on her deathbed at Aga Khan Hospital,” Amenya said. “The whole church abandoned her because Prophet Owuor claimed it was a judgment — all because Kimtai had tried to help renovate the church’s radio studio without Owuor’s knowledge.”
The former insider further alleged that even after her death, the prophet sought to take spiritual credit.
“After the funeral, he claimed he had ‘opened the door to heaven’ for her, despite the fact that she was never healed,” Amenya claimed.
Amenya also alleges that Prophet Owuor’s long-serving Personal Assistant is currently battling cancer, and that many others within the prophet’s circle are on long-term medication for various illnesses.
“This is just one disease he has not been able to cure,” Amenya added. “There are many others relying on medication while he continues to publicly claim divine healing.”
