Akingeneye Olga, a 25-year-old Rwandan disability rights advocate and inspirational figure, has legally married her longtime boyfriend, Arthur Ndoba, in a ceremony held on Thursday.
Olga is widely admired for her work empowering persons living with disabilities, using her own life story to demonstrate that disability does not limit one’s ability to achieve dreams, build a career, or find love.
Her journey has been one of resilience and courage.
In 2003, at just three years old, Olga’s life changed dramatically after she fell ill with malaria.
During the night, overwhelmed by cold caused by the illness, she went to the kitchen seeking warmth where beans were being cooked.
She became dizzy and accidentally fell into the pot of hot beans, sustaining severe burns that would permanently alter her appearance and life.
From that moment, Olga’s life took a different path — one marked by pain, recovery, and countless challenges.
Yet through the highs and lows, she refused to be defined by her disability.
Today, Olga stands as a powerful example of determination and self-belief.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, is gainfully employed, and continues to advocate for inclusion and empowerment of people living with disabilities.
Her marriage to Arthur Ndoba marks another milestone in her inspiring journey — a union built on love, respect, and acceptance.
As she begins this new chapter, many have celebrated Olga not only for finding a life partner who values her, but for proving that resilience, education, and self-worth can triumph over adversity.
