American streamer Darren Jason Watkins Jr., popularly known as IShowSpeed, experienced an unexpected livestream disruption during his African tour in Egypt on Thursday, January 15, 2026, after the drone operator assigned to capture aerial footage abruptly quit in the middle of the broadcast.
The livestream had started smoothly, with Speed visibly excited as he explored the historic Pyramids of Giza.
He marvelled at their sheer size and historical significance while offering his global audience breathtaking aerial views through a drone.
However, the situation took an abrupt turn while Speed was standing on top of a car, interacting with fans who had gathered in large numbers along the streets of Giza to catch a glimpse of the popular streamer.
Moments into the interaction, Speed was informed that the drone operator had suddenly resigned.
The revelation caught the streamer completely off guard, leaving him visibly frustrated and confused as he tried to understand what had happened.
“He quit? Why did he quit? Did he leave the backpack with the gadgets? Do we have the drone shot? What do you mean he quit? What pressure is there? You all cannot be doing that to me,” Speed said during the livestream.
It was later confirmed that the backpack containing the drone equipment had been left behind.
Despite this, the operator’s sudden departure caused significant disruption, forcing Speed and his crew to scramble to keep the livestream running smoothly.
One member of Speed’s team explained that the operator had struggled to cope with the pressure of the high-profile broadcast and had repeatedly disappeared before finally walking away altogether.
“He can’t handle the pressure, bro. He kept disappearing. He left the bag, and when I looked behind, he was not there,” a crew member said.
Shortly after, Speed’s bodyguard, Rudi, officially broke the news to him on camera.“Speed, the drone guy quit,” Rudi stated.
