Kipipiri Member of Parliament Wanjiku Muhia has raised concerns over her safety, claiming that unknown vehicles have been trailing her and monitoring her family shortly after her security detail was withdrawn.
In a statement posted on her Facebook page, the legislator alleged that she had noticed suspicious vehicles following her movements and that two vehicles remained parked at her mother’s compound until late at night.
According to Muhia, the situation poses a serious security threat not only to her but also to her family, constituents, and the wider Nyandarua County community.
“Following withdrawal of my security yesterday, I have noticed unknown vehicles following me and these two staying at my mother’s compound until late at night. This is a security concern to myself, my family, my constituents and Nyandarua County at large,” she wrote.
The MP further stated that should anything happen to her, she would hold the Government of Kenya responsible.
“I wish to inform the general public that could anything happen to me, the Government of Kenya is fully responsible,” she added.
Muhia linked the alleged intimidation and withdrawal of her security to her active involvement in campaigning ahead of the upcoming Ol Kalou Constituency by-election.
She also addressed the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), saying she was willing to cooperate with investigators if required.
“Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) team, if you wish to summon me, please do it and I will avail myself to the nearest police station,” she stated.
