Former Trade and Investment Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has confirmed that President William Ruto’s regime is on its tail end and compared it to the infamous Titanic ship which sank in the North Atlantic in 1912.
In a post on X on Friday morning, Kuria, who is an ardent follower of President William Ruto, compared the crumbling Kenya Kwanza Alliance to the movie Titanic that was directed by James Cameron and starred Leonardo DiCaprio. He said the ruling alliance is facing tumultuous times but the top leadership is pretending that everything is well, much like what the nobles and the rich pretended when the Titanic ship sank.
“The Movie is THE TITANIC. The ship has hit the iceberg. Water levels are near full inside the ship. It’s clear to all it’s headed to the bottom of the sea. The passengers are prepared for the worst. Even the rats are scampering for safety and looking for an exit. BUT. Two groups remained oblivious. The band continued playing the music like nothing was happening. And the wives of the nobles and the rich were still quarrelling loudly about who would sit on the front row,” Kuria wrote on X.
Since the day the government lost the recent Ol Kalou by election, state machinery and State House have panicked and everyone is scratching their heads, waiting for the same fate during the August 10, 2027 presidential election. The by election loss, where the UDA candidate was whitewashed by DCP, sent shockwaves through the ruling party and exposed the deep cracks within the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
Kuria’s comparison of the alliance to the Titanic is significant. The Titanic was considered unsinkable, yet it sank on its maiden voyage, killing over 1,500 people. The analogy suggests that Kenya Kwanza, which seemed invincible after the 2022 election, is now heading for a disastrous end. Kuria’s reference to the band continuing to play music while the ship sinks is a clear jab at the President’s inner circle, who he believes are living in denial about the alliance’s crumbling fortunes.
