Former Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has claimed that a growing number of individuals allied to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s DCP party are privately expressing frustration with his leadership, signaling potential cracks ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV, Kuria alleged that many DCP supporters have been reaching out to him behind the scenes, voicing dissatisfaction with both President William Ruto and Gachagua.
However, he claimed the discontent is more pronounced toward Gachagua, despite him being the party leader.
“Seventy percent of DCP people talk to me. They don’t like William Ruto. But there is only one person they hate more than William Ruto—Rigathi Gachagua, his own people,” Kuria said.
Kuria further accused the faction of engaging in what he described as “transactional politics,” where financial influence determines access and loyalty.
He claimed that one individual allegedly paid Ksh 10 million to secure Gachagua’s attendance at a traditional ruracio ceremony.
“There is a guy I know—he had a ruracio, he paid Ksh 10 million for the man to attend. It is nothing but transactional politics that is happening there,” Kuria alleged.
He also downplayed ongoing wrangles within ODM and the broad-based government arrangement, suggesting that internal tensions within DCP could soon eclipse them.
“Whatever appears to be vicious within ODM and the broad-based arrangement may look like an issue, but it is child’s play compared to what is coming,” he said, hinting at possible turbulence within the party.
