Fresh details have emerged regarding Tony Odhiambo, the main suspect in the mysterious death of Murang’a University student Constance Githinji at an Airbnb in Kileleshwa.
Constance died after falling from the sixth floor of the apartment, with initial reports suggesting she may have taken her own life.
The 22-year-old student was in the company of Tony Odhiambo, who has since been arrested and detained by police as a key suspect in the incident.
Tony was arraigned at Kibra Magistrate’s Court on Monday, April 27, where the court directed that he be detained for 10 days to allow police more time to investigate the matter.
It has now emerged that the suspect is facing a separate assault case allegedly committed in September 2025 in Kilimani.
He had been released on bond but later failed to attend court.
Police have reportedly had him on their radar since last year, and his arrest could shed more light on his past conduct.
According to CCTV footage at Kaisa Apartments, Constance arrived at the lift lobby at around 4:11 am and was later joined by a man believed to be Tony at 4:17 am.
A security guard assisted them in opening a key box, after which they proceeded to apartment C601.
A commotion was reported inside the short-stay apartment at around 4:32 am, prompting the guard to check at about 4:34 am.
About nine minutes later, the guard stepped out briefly before walking away.
The guard returned at around 4:46 am, but little activity was captured.
It is believed this was around the time Constance was last seen alive.
Tony has claimed that Constance threw herself from the building, suggesting suicide.
However, Constance’s family has dismissed the claim, terming it misleading and an attempt to cover up the truth.
