The family of the late Constance Githinji, a Murang’a University student who died at a Kileleshwa Airbnb, is demanding justice following her untimely death.
Speaking to the press after attending a court session at Kibera Law Courts on Monday, where the key suspect, Tony Odhiambo, was arraigned, the family dismissed claims that their daughter died by suicide.
They termed the claim misleading and an attempt to cover up the truth.
Constance’s mother said her daughter was not under any stress and had no issues that could have led her to take her own life.
“There is no way she could have done that as alleged. We want the police to investigate this matter and tell us the truth,” she said, while demanding justice for her daughter.
According to CCTV footage retrieved from Kaisa Apartments, Constance arrived at the lift lobby at around 4:11 am and was later joined by a man believed to be Tony at 4:17 am.
A security guard assisted them in opening a key box, after which they proceeded to apartment C601.
A commotion was reported inside the short-stay apartment at around 4:32 am, prompting the guard to check at about 4:34 am.
About nine minutes later, the guard stepped out and lingered briefly before walking away.
The guard returned at around 4:46 am, but little activity was captured. It is around this time that Constance was reportedly last seen alive.
