Renowned lawyer and political commentator Miguna Miguna has dismissed claims by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua that President William Ruto allegedly paid Suna East MP Junet Mohamed Ksh 5 million to sabotage Raila Odinga’s 2022 presidential bid.
In a statement shared on his X account, Miguna termed the allegations implausible and lacking credibility.
While reiterating his criticism of Junet Mohamed, whom he described as an opportunist, Miguna argued that the amount cited could not realistically influence such a high-stakes political betrayal.
He maintained that it is illogical to suggest that Junet would undermine Raila Odinga, a candidate widely viewed at the time as a strong contender and one who could have rewarded loyalty with a senior Cabinet position, in exchange for Ksh 5 million.
Miguna described the claim as not only false but also “churlish.”
Miguna also took aim at Gachagua, accusing him of making increasingly desperate statements that risk eroding his credibility in the public arena.
Gachagua, speaking during an interview on Kameme FM on Monday, claimed that he personally witnessed President Ruto hand over the money to Junet.
He further alleged that Junet, who was a key figure in Raila’s campaign team, was instructed not to deploy agents to oversee the election process, contributing to Raila’s loss.
