A female police officer attached to Rongo Administration Police Headquarters is nursing injuries after she was assaulted by a fellow police officer, an incident that was followed by a miscarriage.
According to an OB report, Police Constable Edna Ondabu was assaulted by fellow officer Police Constable Eric Oketch on Tuesday at around 6:00 PM.
The incident was initially reported at Kamagambo Police Station on Tuesday night as a case of assault.
Edna told police that she had been attacked by her colleague, sustaining injuries to her stomach, head and both hands.
She initially sought treatment at Rongo Sub-County Hospital before being referred to Kisii County Referral Hospital on Wednesday for further medical examination.
Doctors reportedly established that she had suffered serious stomach complications and admitted her for treatment.
She was said to be in a serious but stable condition before she later suffered a miscarriage.
The incident reportedly occurred after the two officers, who were on duty at Kanga Chinese Gold Mine in Migori County, got into an argument.
PC Eric Oketch was subsequently arrested and placed in custody pending further investigations into the incident.
