A group of upcoming politicians from Karachuonyo has come under heavy criticism on social media after sharing photos of former Homa Bay Governor Cyprian Awiti, whose health has reportedly deteriorated following a long battle with illness.
According to the information shared, Awiti is now completely blind and spends most of his time at his home as he continues to battle a life-threatening illness.
The photos have sparked mixed reactions online, with many Kenyans questioning the decision to make his condition public instead of respecting his privacy and dignity.
One social media user criticized those who visited the former governor, accusing them of using his vulnerability for political publicity rather than showing genuine concern.
“Let your visits reflect respect, dignity and genuine concern—not publicity,” the user wrote.
“Leadership should be defined by ideas, integrity and service, not by turning another person’s vulnerability into campaign content,” the post added.
