Trouble For Kindiki as Prominent Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi Reveals What Will Happen if High Court Overturns Gachagua’s Impeachment

Prominent city lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has weighed in on the possible outcome of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment case currently before the High Court.

Taking to his X account, the outspoken Senior Counsel argued that if the court overturns the impeachment, the consequences would be immediate and far-reaching within Kenya’s political landscape.

According to Ahmednasir, such a ruling would automatically pave the way for Gachagua’s reinstatement as Deputy President. In turn, Prof. Kithure Kindiki, who assumed the position following the impeachment, would be required to vacate office “by operation of law.”

He went further to make a bold political projection, suggesting that the development could significantly reshape alliances ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Ahmednasir claimed that Gachagua could once again emerge as President William Ruto’s running mate.

“Very interesting times ahead,” he remarked, humorously punctuating his statement with laughing emojis.

Gachagua moved to court to challenge the legality and constitutionality of the impeachment process that led to his removal from office.

In his petition, he argues that the process was marred by procedural irregularities, violations of constitutional rights, and a denial of his right to a fair hearing.
