Former Chief Justice David Kenani Maraga has strongly hinted at the possibility of joining forces with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to form a formidable political alliance aimed at unseating President William Ruto in the 2027 general election.
Speaking on Wednesday during an interview on SIFA FM, Maraga launched a scathing attack on President Ruto, accusing his administration of prioritising the impeachment of Gachagua and the plundering of public resources instead of delivering meaningful development to Kenyans.

Maraga, who has in recent months emerged as one of the most outspoken critics of Ruto’s leadership, stated that he is ready to work with Gachagua’s opposition movement to bring about political change.

The former CJ categorically ruled out any chance of joining a broad-based government or supporting Ruto’s re-election bid, making it clear that he will not negotiate with the President.
“How can I work with him (Ruto) when the people will vote him out? Our values and principles are completely at odds. We simply cannot work together,” Maraga remarked.
When pressed on whether he would consider aligning himself with Gachagua, Maraga signalled his willingness to hold discussions with the former deputy president. However, he emphasised that any alliance must be firmly grounded in the rule of law and service to the people of Kenya.
“I am open to talks with Gachagua. We will sit down and evaluate his plans for Kenyans. If his agenda is genuinely focused on improving the lives of our people and upholding the law, then we can work together. But if his record and character do not reflect those values, it will be very difficult to cooperate,” Maraga explained.
Below is the video of Maraga declaring that he will not work with President Ruto but is open to collaborating with Gachagua.
