One of the individuals involved in the disruption of a post-budget meeting at All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi has broken his silence, claiming that those who financed the operation have abandoned them as police intensify investigations into the incident.
Speaking in an interview on Citizen TV, the man alleged that he and others were initially recruited to disrupt a meeting associated with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
According to him, the group assembled in Nairobi’s Central Business District, only for the mission to change at the last minute.
He claimed they were later instructed to storm a public forum at All Saints Cathedral and disrupt the proceedings.
The meeting had brought together civil society groups, faith leaders, and members of the public to discuss the 2026 budget.
The man further alleged that plain-clothed officers were present among the group and issued instructions on how the operation would be carried out.
Now, he says members of the group are living in fear, accusing the politician who allegedly hired them of abandoning them to face the consequences alone.
According to his account, police have launched a crackdown on those involved, with at least two suspects already arrested.
The man expressed frustration that those who organized and financed the operation have not come to their aid, leaving participants to deal with arrests on their own.
